Far Out Foundation × Air New Zealand Dream Seats

Terms and Conditions

For participation in the Far Out Road Trip 2027 | 21–28 February 2027

These Terms and Conditions govern applications for, the award of, and participation in the Far Out Foundation × Air New Zealand Dream Seats for the 2027 Far Out Road Trip Feb 21-28 2027.

By submitting an application, applicants acknowledge that they have read these Terms and Conditions. Successful applicants must accept the applicable conditions of their Dream Seat before participation is confirmed.

1. About the Dream Seats

1.1. The Far Out Foundation, a registered charitable trust (the “Foundation”), in partnership with Air New Zealand Limited (“Air New Zealand”) and the Air New Zealand Dream Seats programme, is offering four (4) Dream Seats to attend the 2027 Far Out Road Trip, taking place from 21–28 February 2027.

1.2. The Far Out Road Trip is a curated programme connecting New Zealand's technology and innovation founders with investors, global talent, experienced technology leaders and the wider innovation ecosystem.

1.3. The Dream Seats are intended to provide selected recipients with an opportunity to participate in the Far Out Road Trip, build meaningful connections, engage with the programme and contribute to New Zealand's innovation ecosystem.

1.4. Dream Seats are awarded by the Foundation in partnership with Air New Zealand. Applications will be assessed by a selection panel appointed by the Foundation and Air New Zealand.

1.5. A Dream Seat provides an opportunity to participate in the Far Out Road Trip on the terms specified in the recipient's award confirmation. It is not a cash prize, a guarantee of investment or commercial outcomes, or a promise of future employment, funding, introductions or business success.

1.6. These Terms and Conditions apply in addition to any reasonable event participation requirements, safety instructions, travel conditions, consent forms or other requirements communicated to a successful recipient.

1.7. A Dream Seat is personal to the selected recipient, is not redeemable for cash and is not transferable, except where an alternative arrangement is expressly approved in writing by the Foundation and, where applicable, Air New Zealand.

2. Eligibility

2.1. Applications are open to New Zealand residents aged 18 years or older at the time of application.

2.2. Applicants must provide accurate, complete and current information and satisfy any reasonable eligibility and verification requirements communicated by the Foundation.

2.3. The Foundation may request evidence of identity, age, New Zealand residency, professional background, relevant experience or other information reasonably required to assess an application or administer a Dream Seat.

2.4. The Foundation may request supporting information, documentation or references from an applicant at any stage of the application or selection process where it considers this appropriate for assessing eligibility, verifying application information or evaluating the applicant's suitability for a Dream Seat. Applicants must provide reasonably requested information within the timeframe specified by the Foundation. Failure to provide requested information may result in the application not being considered further.

2.5. Employees, contractors, judges, agents or other persons directly involved in administering or judging the Dream Seats may be excluded where their involvement creates an actual or perceived conflict of interest. Any applicable exclusions will be administered consistently with the objectives of the programme.

2.6. The Foundation may exclude an applicant who is ineligible, provides materially false or misleading information, submits an application on another person's behalf without authority, or otherwise fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions.

2.7. Applicants must not submit content or information that infringes another person's rights, breaches confidentiality obligations or is otherwise unlawful.

2.8. The Foundation may verify an applicant's eligibility and application details before making an award or at any time before or during the Far Out Road Trip where reasonably necessary.

3. Application period and process

3.1. Applications are open now and will be assessed on a rolling basis until all four (4) Dream Seats have been filled, with the selection process expected to conclude in mid-January 2027.

3.2. Applications must be submitted through the official Dream Seat application page:

https://farout.nz/dream-seat

3.3. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their applications are complete, accurate and submitted successfully.

3.4. Incomplete applications, applications containing materially false or misleading information, or applications that do not meet the eligibility requirements may be excluded.

3.5. Applications may be assessed as they are received. Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as the four Dream Seats may be allocated before the anticipated mid-January 2027 conclusion of the application period.

3.6. The Foundation reserves the right to close applications once all four Dream Seats have been awarded, extend the application period if places remain available, or amend the application process where reasonably necessary, subject to applicable law.

3.7. The Foundation is not responsible for applications that are lost, delayed, corrupted, incomplete or not successfully received because of technical failures, connectivity issues or circumstances outside its reasonable control.

3.8. Submission of an application does not guarantee consideration for an award, selection, participation in the road trip or any other benefit.

4. Selection and judging

4.1. Dream Seat recipients will be selected by a panel appointed by the Foundation and Air New Zealand.

4.2. The selection panel and Air New Zealand retain discretion over the selection process and allocation of Dream Seats, subject to applicable law and any applicable contractual obligations.

4.3. In assessing applications, the panel may consider any factors it considers relevant to the objectives of the Far Out Road Trip and Dream Seats programme, including, without limitation:

a. the applicant's experience, achievements, leadership and potential;

b. the applicant's contribution or potential contribution to New Zealand's technology, innovation, investment or business ecosystem;

c. the potential benefit to the applicant and the wider community from participation;

d. the applicant's alignment with the purpose and objectives of the Far Out Road Trip;

e. the applicant's capacity to contribute constructively to the programme and its community; and

f. any other factor the panel considers relevant to the allocation of the Dream Seats.

4.4. The panel is not required to apply published weightings to these factors, disclose its deliberations, rank applicants publicly or provide individual feedback or reasons for its decisions.

4.5. All selection decisions are at the discretion of the panel and Air New Zealand. Decisions will be made in accordance with applicable law and will be final, subject to any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

4.6. The Foundation and Air New Zealand are not obliged to award all four Dream Seats if, in their discretion, suitable applicants are not identified.

4.7. Applicants who are not selected will not be entitled to compensation, reimbursement or other benefits in connection with their application.

4.8. The Foundation may retain a reserve list of applicants and may offer a Dream Seat to an alternative applicant if an award is declined, withdrawn or otherwise becomes available.

5. Notification and acceptance

5.1. Successful applicants will be notified using the contact details supplied in their applications.

5.2. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their contact details remain accurate and for monitoring relevant communications.

5.3. A successful applicant must respond within the acceptance period specified in their award notification. The Foundation may make reasonable attempts to contact an applicant who does not respond.

5.4. If a successful applicant cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts, declines the award, fails to respond within the required period or fails to complete required acceptance documentation, the Dream Seat may be forfeited and offered to another applicant.

5.5. The Foundation may require a recipient to confirm in writing their acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and any reasonable additional requirements for participation.

6. Dream Seat inclusions and exclusions

6.1. Each Dream Seat provides full or partial participation in the 2027 Far Out Road Trip, as specified in the recipient's award confirmation.

6.2. Depending on the award and itinerary, a Dream Seat may include:

c. most meals during the recipient's confirmed participation period; and

d. agreed programme activities, experiences and associated participation opportunities.

6.3. The exact scope, duration and inclusions of each Dream Seat will be confirmed to the recipient in writing. The award confirmation will take precedence over any general description of inclusions on the application page to the extent of any inconsistency, subject to applicable law.

6.4. Unless expressly confirmed in writing as included, recipients are responsible for incidental expenses and charges, including:

a. personal spending money, shopping and discretionary purchases;

b. meals, refreshments, snacks, alcoholic beverages and other personal purchases not included in the programme;

c. personal communications, roaming and data charges;

d. laundry, personal services and other incidental costs;

e. baggage fees or excess baggage charges not expressly included;

g. travel to or from the designated departure airport where not expressly included;

h. travel insurance and any additional insurance required by the recipient; and

i. any other cost not expressly included in the written award confirmation.

6.5. Recipients must not assume that accommodation, every meal, every transport leg or every programme activity is included unless confirmed in writing.

6.6. Any flight or travel benefit provided as part of a Dream Seat is subject to the booking arrangements, fare conditions, availability and applicable terms communicated for that benefit. Where Air New Zealand's Conditions of Carriage apply, those conditions govern the relevant carriage.

6.7. The Foundation and Air New Zealand do not guarantee any particular commercial, professional, investment, networking or personal outcome from participation.

7. Attendance and participation requirements

7.1. The Far Out Road Trip is scheduled for 21–28 February 2027.

7.2. A recipient may be offered full or partial participation. The relevant dates, itinerary, travel arrangements and participation requirements will be confirmed in the recipient's award confirmation.

7.3. Recipients must attend and participate for the period agreed in their award confirmation and comply with reasonable programme instructions and arrangements.

7.4. Recipients must:

a. provide accurate information reasonably required for travel and event administration;

b. comply with reasonable instructions from the Foundation, event organisers, transport providers, accommodation providers and activity operators;

c. behave respectfully and professionally towards other participants, hosts, partners, staff, suppliers and members of the public;

d. respect the confidentiality of information designated as confidential and comply with any reasonable confidentiality obligations communicated for particular sessions or activities;

e. respect the privacy, safety, dignity and personal boundaries of others;

f. comply with applicable laws and all relevant venue, transport, accommodation and activity rules; and

g. avoid conduct that creates an unreasonable risk to themselves or others or materially disrupts the programme.

7.5. Recipients must not represent themselves as authorised spokespeople for the Foundation, Air New Zealand or any partner unless expressly authorised to do so.

7.6. Recipients must not use their Dream Seat or access to the programme to make unauthorised commercial representations, imply endorsements or disclose confidential information obtained through participation.

7.7. Recipients are responsible for their personal belongings and for following reasonable instructions regarding equipment, vehicles, travel, accommodation and programme activities.

7.8. The Foundation may make reasonable adjustments to participation arrangements where necessary for safety, accessibility, logistics or operational reasons, taking account of the nature of the programme and the recipient's circumstances.

8. Withdrawal, revocation and replacement

8.1. A Dream Seat is conditional upon the recipient continuing to meet the eligibility, acceptance, conduct, safety and participation requirements applicable to the award.

8.2. The Foundation and Air New Zealand reserve the right, acting within their respective authority and subject to applicable law, to withdraw, revoke, suspend or vary a Dream Seat at any time before the 2027 Far Out Road Trip or during the event.

8.3. Grounds for withdrawal, revocation, suspension or variation may include, without limitation:

a. a recipient's ineligibility or failure to satisfy an applicable condition of the award;

b. materially false, misleading or incomplete information in an application or subsequent communication;

c. a breach of these Terms and Conditions or of reasonable programme requirements;

d. serious misconduct, harassment, discrimination, violence, unlawful conduct or behaviour that creates a material safety risk;

e. a recipient's inability or unwillingness to participate in the agreed programme;

f. a failure to provide required travel, safety, consent or participation information within a reasonable period;

g. a material change to the programme, travel arrangements or circumstances affecting the award; or

h. circumstances that make continued participation unsafe, impracticable or inconsistent with the objectives of the programme.

8.4. Where reasonably practicable, the Foundation will notify the recipient of the relevant concern and provide an opportunity to respond before a decision is made. This does not prevent immediate action where required for safety, legal compliance, operational necessity or the protection of participants or partners.

8.5. If a Dream Seat is withdrawn, revoked or forfeited, the Foundation may offer it to another applicant. A replacement recipient will be subject to the same eligibility and acceptance requirements.

8.6. Where an award is withdrawn or revoked because of a recipient's breach or conduct, the recipient may be required to cease participation and arrange their own onward travel or other arrangements, subject to applicable law and any arrangements agreed in writing.

8.7. Withdrawal or revocation does not automatically entitle a recipient to reimbursement of personal expenses, incidental costs or other expenditure incurred in anticipation of participation, except where reimbursement is required by law or expressly agreed in writing.

8.8. Nothing in this clause excludes any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Travel, health, safety and insurance

9.1. Recipients are responsible for ensuring that they are fit and appropriately prepared to participate in their confirmed itinerary and activities.

9.2. Recipients must disclose to the Foundation any relevant medical, dietary, accessibility or other requirements reasonably necessary to plan safe and appropriate participation. Such information will be handled in accordance with the privacy provisions in these Terms and Conditions.

9.3. Recipients are responsible for arranging and maintaining appropriate travel and medical insurance for the period of their participation, including cover for relevant activities and any applicable exclusions. The Foundation's specific insurance arrangements, if any, will be communicated separately and do not remove the recipient's responsibility to consider their own insurance needs.

9.4. Recipients must ensure that they hold valid identification and meet any applicable travel, entry, health or other requirements for their confirmed itinerary.

9.5. Where the programme includes driving or other activities subject to specific eligibility or safety requirements, recipients must satisfy those requirements and follow all applicable instructions.

9.6. Recipients must not participate in an activity while impaired by alcohol, drugs, medication or any other condition that creates an unreasonable safety risk.

9.7. The Foundation may refuse or discontinue a recipient's participation in an activity where it reasonably considers that participation would be unsafe, unlawful or inconsistent with applicable safety requirements.

9.8. Recipients must promptly report accidents, injuries, illness, safety concerns or incidents affecting themselves or others to the appropriate event representative or emergency service.

9.9. Recipients acknowledge that road travel, outdoor activities, transport, accommodation and group events can involve inherent risks. Recipients must exercise reasonable care, follow safety instructions and make informed decisions about their participation.

9.10. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions relieves the Foundation, Air New Zealand or any other relevant party of duties or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or transferred.

10. Changes, interruption and cancellation of the programme

10.1. The Foundation intends to deliver the Far Out Road Trip from 21–28 February 2027 but does not guarantee that every itinerary element, activity, venue, speaker, transport arrangement or experience will occur as originally planned.

10.2. The Foundation may make reasonable changes to the programme, itinerary, venues, timings, activities or participation arrangements where necessary for operational, safety, weather, transport, supplier, availability or other legitimate reasons.

10.3. The Foundation may postpone, suspend, shorten or cancel all or part of the programme where circumstances make this necessary or appropriate, including severe weather, natural disasters, public emergencies, transport disruption, security concerns, supplier failure, legal requirements or other events beyond its reasonable control.

10.4. Where reasonably practicable, recipients will be notified of material changes or cancellation as soon as reasonably possible.

10.5. Where a change materially affects the recipient's confirmed award, the Foundation will communicate the revised arrangements and any applicable options. Any replacement benefit, alternative participation arrangement or reimbursement will be determined in accordance with the written award confirmation, applicable agreements and applicable law.

10.6. Neither the existence of a Dream Seat nor an award confirmation guarantees that the programme will proceed in its original form or that all advertised experiences will be available.

10.7. Nothing in this clause excludes any non-excludable statutory rights or remedies.

11. Photography, video, media and promotional permissions

11.1. By applying for a Dream Seat, applicants acknowledge that the Foundation may communicate with them about the application, selection process and programme.

11.2. As a condition of accepting a Dream Seat, recipients agree that the Foundation, Air New Zealand, their respective associated partners and authorised representatives may photograph, film, record, interview or otherwise capture the recipient's participation in the programme, subject to applicable law.

11.3. To the extent permitted by law, recipients grant the Foundation, Air New Zealand and their respective associated partners a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, reproduce, publish, adapt, edit, communicate, display and distribute the recipient's name, image, likeness, voice, approved biography, interview material and recorded participation for purposes connected with the Dream Seats, the Far Out Road Trip, related media coverage, communications, reporting, publicity and promotion.

a. media releases and press announcements;

b. websites, social media channels and digital platforms;

c. marketing, promotional and communications materials;

d. publications, presentations and reports;

e. event recaps, photography, video and documentary-style content; and

11.5. These permissions apply to use by the organisations and partners identified above, including use through their authorised agencies, media providers and communications suppliers, for the purposes described in this clause.

11.6. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, no additional fee, royalty or other payment is payable for these uses.

11.7. Recipients acknowledge that promotional content may be edited, formatted, reproduced or adapted for different media and platforms, provided that it is not used in a manner that is unlawful or misleading.

11.8. Recipients who submit written statements, biographies or other written or non-visual materials as part of their application warrant that they own those materials or have obtained all permissions necessary for the uses authorised under these Terms and Conditions.

11.9. For written or other non-visual material supplied by a recipient, the recipient grants the Foundation and Air New Zealand, and their authorised associated partners, a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence
